Damavand Vertical Skylight Project Details

The Damavand Vertical Skylight Project was implemented in a villa building located in Damavand. This project includes four vertical skylights measuring 210 x 100 centimeters, which are located on the staircase. The glass design of these skylights is a combination of traditional Iranian design and colored glass, and uses a transparent background to display the beauty of the nature outside.

All skylights installed in this project are designed as a three-walled set with a thickness of 20 mm. This design includes 6 mm tempered glass on both sides, which contributes to the safety and durability of these glasses. Considering the architecture of the Damavand villa, the large openings of this villa allow stained glass skylights to be installed seamlessly without cutting.

Stained glass windows represent traditional Iranian art and architecture that were used in mosques and mansions in the past. Architects used latticed doors and windows and colored glass to bring light into buildings in an attractive way while protecting them from direct sunlight. This beauty and functionality give Iranian architecture a unique identity. Unfortunately, the use of colored glass is less common in contemporary architecture, while this glass not only creates a beautiful effect, but also has positive psychological effects. Archi Taj Collection has revived this traditional art in the form of modern methods by utilizing modern technologies.

Challenges and Achievements

The Archi Taj team faced certain challenges in this project, including the large dimensions of the skylights and their high weight, which made installation difficult. However, with the use of appropriate techniques, all the glass was installed well and in place. Windows located on the façade of a building allow the designer to create beautiful patterns and give a stunning effect to the façade of the building.

The use of stained glass windows not only brings visual beauty and positive psychological effects, but can also create a spiritual and relaxing atmosphere in indoor environments.
