Oval Glass Dome Project

The oval glass dome is one of the unique projects of Archi Taj Group in Valiasr Square, Tehran. This beautiful dome with diameters of 6 meters and 4 meters is located on the stairwell void of a triplex apartment owned by the Ghavami family. The implementation of this project faced many challenges due to the presence of a large and fixed chandelier in the building.

Design and implementation of the oval dome

The oval dome requires special attention in the design and implementation stages. In this project, the design of each of the battens was done separately. Considering the interior space and the specific characteristics of the apartment, the design team decided to design the dome in the neoclassical style. The lower motifs of the dome create a continuous movement and the arched forms above it display a repeating rhythm.

Waterproofing and lighting

To prevent water from penetrating inside, flat sheets were used, which preserve the exterior of the dome well. During the day, this dome gives a stunning look to the interior of the apartment with natural light. At night, the dome’s interior lighting beautifully reveals the roof space.
