Yazd Glass Dome

The Yazd Glass Dome project, one of Archi Taj’s outstanding works, was implemented in 2017 in the residential house of Dr. Saadati located on Kashani Street in Yazd. This project, which is located above the void of the stairs of a duplex building, is an example of classical Iranian architecture that, by combining modern lighting, adds a special beauty to the interior decoration of this house.

Glass Dome Design in a Classical Iranian Space

This stained glass dome is designed using blue and turquoise colors and using cut and sandblasted glass. This unique design allows light to enter the space with elegance and adds a unique effect of light and color to the interior space.

This glass dome is considered one of Archi Taj’s important projects not only in terms of beauty, but also in terms of technology. The design of the structural skeleton was carried out in accordance with the steel structure regulations, and cold-rolled steel profiles were used to provide the necessary strength.

Sealing and skylight implementation process

In this project, sealing the skylight was also of particular importance. To prevent water penetration, after installing the stained glass windows, polymer sheets were used together with pressurized rubber to seal the structure. Then, aluminum sections (fish pollen) were installed to complete the sealing process.

The Yazd Stained Glass Dome Project is one of the successful examples of designing and implementing glass domes in Iran, considering the use of modern techniques in interior lighting and classic Iranian design. This project well demonstrates the balance between beauty, lighting, and structural strength.
