Farmanieh Sonbol Glass Dome

The Sonbol Farmanieh Glass Dome project is one of the most beautiful and unique projects in the field of modern architecture. This lenticular dome was designed and implemented in 2010 by the Archi Taj specialized group. This structure is located in a residential building located on Sonbol Farmanieh Street and has unique features.

Design and construction of the glass dome

This dome was built on the ceiling above the main hall. A dome with a diameter of 3 meters was designed and implemented for the light-filled space. Interactions between the sole engineer, the building builder, and the Archi Taj group resulted in the design of the dome in a lenticular shape. This design is such that the visibility of the dome from the outside is reduced and the area of the dome is also reduced.

The design phase of the metal structure of this project was carefully carried out and the project entered the implementation phase. The design of the structure was done in such a way that its weight is minimized and construction costs are also reduced. For this purpose, corner and shield sections were used, which have a lower weight than profiles.

Glass Features

The design of the stained glass windows of this dome is done in a minimalist geometric style. This design includes cut glass, frosted glass and acid-etched glass, which gives a special shine to the structure. At the request of the client, a place to connect the chandelier to the center of this dome was also designed to increase the beauty of the design.

Sealing and protection of the glass dome

To seal the dome, a chamber was built at the top of the structure to prevent rainwater from penetrating the structure below. This method is known as European-style sealing and has some differences from other methods. Each project at Archi Taj is sealed in a specific way according to its specific characteristics.
