The Karaj Stained Glass Dome project was designed and implemented in 2017 by the Archi Taj specialized group for a residential villa at the beginning of Chalus Road. Engineer Haeri, as the client, was responsible for the construction of this project. This villa was designed in line with green architecture by maintaining a close connection with nature, and even the tree that was located in the foundation of the structure was completely preserved. The main goal of this architecture is to use natural light and natural elements in the interior spaces.
In this project, the void in the villa’s ceiling was designed to allow natural light to enter, and by installing the stained glass dome, colored lights entered the interior space with a beautiful combination. This dome was made of 10 sheets of stained glass with a full-color design in the Iranian style. In the context of this design, opal glass and Iranian Islamic motifs were used, which created special light effects in the space.
To build the skeleton of this dome, steel profiles with cold rolling operations were used, and the connections were made completely welded. All construction stages were carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Engineering System Organization and the necessary approvals were obtained.
The sealing of this project was carried out using double-wall polycarbonate sheets and pressurized rubber. After the installation of the stained glass windows, these sheets were installed to prevent water penetration. At the connection points, resistant tires were pressurized and aluminum sections called “fish” were also used for further protection.
The Karaj Stained Glass Dome Project is a successful example of combining traditional Iranian architecture with modern technologies in the construction of stained glass structures, which has created beauty and efficiency in the space at the same time.
