Qom Stained Glass Dome Project – Islamic Propaganda Office

In the summer of 2017, the Qom Stained Glass Dome project was entrusted to Archi Taj’s specialized group. This dome was designed for the Islamic Propaganda Office building of one of the great authorities. The conference and meeting hall, which is located on the top floor of this building, needed a natural light source, and for this reason, a circular void with a diameter of 5.20 meters was considered in the ceiling.

Archi Taj provided a special design for this office dome, taking into account the technical requirements. It designed the dome with a height of 1 meter in the shape of a lens or arching to maximize the lighting of the interior space while at the same time having a small impact on the exterior of the building. This type of design is similar to the Kalen bow arch in traditional Iranian architecture.

Engineer Azizi, the builder of the building, in collaboration with Archi Taj, designed the stained glass windows with a “modern geometric” design that was in harmony with the overall architecture and use of the office space.

Structure and technical details:

• The skeleton of this structure was made of steel profiles, which were designed and reviewed according to the regulations related to steel structures, the rolling process and its connections. This design also received the approval of the engineering system.
• For the strength and proper sealing of the dome, double-walled polycarbonate sheets were used. These sheets have high resistance to atmospheric changes and maintain their quality over the years. Pressure-resistant rubber is placed between the intervals of the sheets and then aluminum sections (fish fillets) are installed on them to ensure complete sealing of the structure.
• Like other Archi Taj projects, this project also has a lifetime warranty and 15-year insurance.
