Safir Farmaniyeh Stein Glass Dome and Skylight project

This project of skylight and dome was implemented by the Architaj group for a southern penthouse in Safir Farmaniyeh.

This project is about an oval-shaped stein glass dome with a flat skylight. The project was in continuation of Farmaniyeh dome project in 2011.

An oval-shaped dome with a diameter of 4 meters and 2.80 is considered, for one of the halls in the penthouse.

The dome has a minimal geometrical design with opaque and carved glasses, and the disuse of colored glass allows the light entrance efficiently.

Oval-shaped domes are amongst the most complicated stein glass domes, which are built perfectly relying on the Architaj group’s experience.

The design and construction of the building structure are all implemented by Architaj.

Steel materials are used for the construction of the building structure. Not only did it make the weight of the project lighter, but it also had cheaper impacts on the project.

After the construction, electrostatic color was used to cover the steeled building structure, which provides resistance to the steel against metal rust.

In order to caulk the dome, a small room was built on the roof over the dome, and with sloping laminate tampered glass, the caulking process was fulfilled.

The skylight with flat a rectangle shape is implemented for one of the halls in the penthouse and it resembles most likely oval-shaped domes.

In fact, it has made cohesion and harmony between the elements.

In order to put the stein glass sashes into the skylight area, first Chassis pulling was done in some sections.

Then, every piece of stein glass was put in the right spot according to the plan and made the final design.
